Sun, November 25, 2007 - 9:46 AM"....no payment, resulted in a reduction in blood flow to the "reward region". But the area "lit up" when volunteers earned money, and interestingly showed far more activity if a player received more than his partner."
Oh boy - I predict a rash of conservatives/economic neo-liberals (i.e., radical nutcase Chicago School capitalists) misusing this study, mistaking an apparently factual report for a normative one. ("It *is* such, so it *should* be such.") "See?! We *should* pay CEOs 300 million! And always give them more than the next guy! They'll be more motivated!"
Not to mention the male/female pay divide: "Men will lose their will to live if women make as much as they do! It's simple biology! Ya can't deny nature!"

Re: if...
Wed, November 28, 2007 - 6:34 PM"Singularity"- now there's one of the more abused words around. Seems to have become an article of faith.
"Let judges secretly despair of justice: their verdicts will be more acute. Let generals secretly despair of triumph: killing will be defamed. Let priests secretly despair of faith: their compassion will be true." - Leonard Cohen
Let New Agers & transhumanists secretly despair of the Singularity; maybe they'll actually do something useful for a change.
